List of Accepted Abstracts

The submitted abstracts and synopses will go through a peer review process. The submitted Abstracts are not included in the conference proceedings. The date for notifications of acceptance will be March 1, 2017. For final acceptance on the colloquium program, authors will need to submit full papers as final contributions.

Paper Submission

Authors should submit their paper through the online system at

Following the review of abstracts and the notification of acceptance by email, authors must submit their papers no later than July 1, 2017. At least one author must be registered for the Colloquium prior to the final paper submission.

Manuscripts must be in English for inclusion in the colloquium proceedings. Six to eight pages in the CIGRÉ standard format are allowed for each paper, including figures and references. The PDF file must not exceed 2MB. Your paper will be reviewed. We strongly recommend that you follow the step-by-step instructions in the sections:

Instructions to prepare your PDF Paper

  • Step 1: Paper Format
    • Write your paper using the CIGRÉ template. Do not change the formatting in any way.
  • Step 2: PDF Creation
    • Create a PDF version of your paper. The PDF file must not exceed 2MB.

Instructions for the CIGRÉ Copyright Form

In order to publish your paper in the proceedings, we must receive your copyright form in the final submission process. A signed copy of the CIGRÉ Copyright form is required for each contribution.

  1. Download the CIGRÉ Copyright Form in Word format.
  2. On the second page of the copyright form:
    • Replace the [●] of “Done in 2 copies, in [●], on [●],” respectively by your city and the date of signature. Example: “Done in 2 copies, in Toronto, on April 25 2016.
    • Replace “Signatory” by your name.
  3. Print the form.
  4. At the bottom of the second page of the copyright form, add your hand signature preceded by your handwritten indication “All provisions read and accepted”.
  5. Scan your hand signed form and create a 2-page PDF file of your signed Copyright Form. You will need to submit this PDF file in the final submission process. Please remember without the copyright form we cannot include your paper in the proceedings.

Please have the PDF file of your scanned signed and dated CIGRÉ Copyright form ready to upload when accessing the submission form.

Best Student Paper Award

All student primary authors are eligible for the Best Student Paper Award. Primary authors who graduated within the last 12 months and are no longer students are also eligible if the work being reported was conducted entirely while the primary author was a student.

Based on the comments given by the reviewers on the quality of the abstract, the final paper, and the presentation of the paper at the colloquium by the students, a Best Student Paper Award will be selected and presented during the colloquium.

Student Registration Fee Reimbursement

Students who are primary authors on an accepted student technical paper may apply to have their student colloquium registration fee reimbursed under certain conditions.

We offer free conference registration for students who are first authors on an accepted paper. This includes the conference proceedings, access to the sessions, and the banquet. A proof of student status will be required. A student first author of an accepted paper is required to initially pay the conference registration fee in order for their paper to be included in the conference proceedings, then the registration fee will be reimbursed upon ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE by the student and PRESENTING THE PAPER.

All students planning to attend the CIGRÉ Winnipeg 2017 Colloquium must prepay the student registration fee.

For oral presentation at the 2017 Colloquium, a CIGRÉ standard template for PPT file (i.e. Power Point) is as shown in the hyperlink. The presenters are requested to follow the template and also include a brief CV as per slide 2 to allow the audience to get information about the presenter and maintain consistency.
