Heartland International Travel & Tours is pleased to offer all CIGRÉ Winnipeg 2017 delegates and travelling companions the following tours.

All tours include door -to-door service from the Delta Winnipeg, 350 St. Mary Avenue. Tour fares include all taxes, administration charges and are quoted in Canadian dollars. All tours are based on a minimum of 15 people. In the event that the minimum is not reached, the tour may be cancelled.


Online booking will be available up to 2 weeks in advance (September 18, 2017). Please use the password CIGRE2017 when booking.

How to purchase tickets:

  • Step 1: Click “Register Now” on your desired tour.

  • Step 3: Select “Don’t have an account?” “ Sign up” button. Complete the required information and agree to the terms and conditions. Select “submit”
  • Step 4: You will receive an email to verify your Diyobo Account. Follow the instructions in the email.
  • Step 5: Return to https://cigrewinnipeg2017.com/companion-tours/ and click ”Register Now” on your desired tour.
  • Step 6: Select number of ticket(s). Select “Buy Tickets”. It will prompt you to login using your email address and Diyobo Account password.
  • Step 7: You will be prompted to enter the event passcode “CIGRE2017”. Enter “Continue” and complete ticket buyer information.

Winnipeg City Sightseeing Tour

Tour Winnipeg, the wonderful city of trees! This tour includes the Forks National Historic site, Winnipeg’s historical “meeting place”, with its unique outdoor historic site and indoor market of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Across the new Esplanade Riel Bridge, you will visit Winnipeg’s French Quarter (St. Boniface) and the beautiful St. Boniface Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Western Canada. The Cathedral’s cemetery features the grave of Louis Riel, the famous Métis leader and founder of Manitoba.

You will tour through the Exchange District, with its exceptional collection of terra cotta and cut stone architecture. This thriving and unique neighborhood is home to an array of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries and Winnipeg's theatre district. Its cobblestone streets and friendly pedestrian environment also contribute to its popularity as a period backdrop for today's movie industry.

You will also see the Legislative Building, the beautiful homes of Wellington Crescent, and Winnipeg’s 393-acre Assiniboine Park where you will have the opportunity to walk through the unique Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, which features bronze sculptures, porcelains, paintings and sketches by celebrated Winnipeg artist, Leo Mol.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights - Explore the Galleries Tour

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) is the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. The CMHR is the first national museum to be built in nearly half a century, and the first outside the National Capital Region.

This 90 minute guided tour will take you on a human rights journey and help you discover what the Museum is all about. You will be able to explore most of the galleries and connect with compelling human rights stories. You will also see many architectural features of the building. Access to the Israel Asper Tower of Hope is not included in the guided tour. However, you will be able to visit the Tower on your own following the tour.

Fort Whyte Alive – Canadian Prairie Past

On this tour, take a step back in time when the bison roamed the prairie and to a time when people’s connection to the natural world was a matter of survival.Visit the Pioneer Sod House built from the earth, then stop by the bison viewing mound and discover the importance of this mammal to the Plains Cree. Explore the culture of the Métis, the influence they had on the fur trade, and their connection to the buffalo hunt.

Hermetic Code Tour

Journey to Churchill – Canadian Signature Experience

Watch in wonder as the majestic polar bears swim and play above and around you in the Sea Ice Passage, underwater viewing tunnels, then join a zookeeper for a personalized animal encounter. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a polar bear in close quarters, and you'll get an insider's look at this important part of the care of the polar bears and other animals at the Zoo.

Wander across the authentic landscapes, from forests, tundra and ice, as you come face to face with the exhibit's other animals: caribou, muskoxen, snowy owls, Arctic fox, wolves and seals. Gaze at the northern lights dancing in colourful ribbons above you in the Aurora Borealis Theatre, Manitoba's largest 360 degree domed theatre.
